How can I tell if he likes me one-on-one?

I'm beginning to like someone. We hang out in a group of friends and I find him funny and attractive. How can I tell if he likes me one-on-one?

You have a couple of options:

  • You can ask him. You can go to him at a moment when you're not in the group and ask him if he would be interested in doing something separate from the group. The yes or no you get will decide it right then and there.

  • If being that direct isn't your style, you can very casually mention you find him funny. You know, he tells a joke and you laugh (don't get out of hand) and then just say, "Jim, you are so funny. That's great!" and see if the compliment gets his attention. Of course, if he's shy, he won't move and you won't know.

  • You can swear your girlfriend to secrecy and tell her. Make sure it's the girlfriend that couldn't hold water if she were a sponge. He'll know by the end of the day.
