Is there a difference between being separated and legally separated?
I met this guy at a friend's house and he asked me to go out. I asked him if he was married and he said he was legally separated. Is there a difference between being separated and legally separated? If I go out with him, aren’t a dating a married man?
I Yes, you would be dating a married man and yes there is a difference between being separated and legally separated. Anyone can claim to be separated, but a legal separated is something granted by a judge and usually means both parties are seriously considering dissolving their marriage.
Of course, the marriage could be dissolving because he dated women while he was married. So, as in all cases, you need to listen to your instincts and not the beating of the heart or of the brain. You have to make a decision whether you want to get yourself involved with a man who still (no matter how amicably) is still involved with his wife.
