She hasn't opened up. Any suggestions?

There's a woman at work who I would like to get to know better. We are often at the same after work get-togethers and when I speak to her, she answers in monosyllables. I've tried asking open ended questions and questions that require more than a yes or no answer, but she hasn't opened up. Any suggestions?

Yep. Stop trying. Seriously. Either she's a woman of few words or she just doesn't want to talk to you or she's playing hard to get by being mummified. Don't you have better ways to spend your time?
Have you noticed if she's animated with others? If so, then she just doesn't want to speak with you and you should respect it and leave it alone. If she's talkative with others and is giving you signals and then shutting down - she's playing. I personally hate when women do that, but it's up to you if you want to hang around until she's decided you've won (which really means she's won.)
If, on the off chance, she is incredible shy. You can simply tell her something like: "I've tried to get to know you and I would really like to, so if you ever want to have a conversation, just let me know". Then leave it be. If she wants to make the effort, she will. If she doesn't or can't, the end result is the same - she's not the one for you.
