Top 10 Honeymoon Tips

Something both men and women should know is that getting married isn't exactly considered buying the proverbial cow. There's a lot that can go wrong and turn matrimonial bliss into a divorce nightmare. And although you may not like to hear it, things can go south as quickly as the honeymoon.

Sure, the air's filled with passion and you'll probably be filled with champagne, but a lot of your marriage is contingent on the success of the honeymoon. It's important that things go well; everyone wants a fantastic honeymoon.
Ranging from dos and don'ts to starts and stops, here are ten tips that can help your honeymoon go smoothly.

Ten Honeymoon Tips

One: Be Preemptive
Unless you're Britney Spears getting wed by fat Elvis in Vegas on a whim, you'll be planning out your wedding. Put the same thought into the honeymoon. The number-one way to make sure you have a great honeymoon is to plan it together and down to the last detail.

Two: Don't be a Rookie
The honeymoon shouldn't be the first trip you and your spouse take. Get used to traveling together, no matter the destination. This way, you'll know what your spouse likes and dislikes in terms of traveling pet peeves.

Three: Watch the Sky
Sunsets are not played out or overrated, nor are the stars. When you're not in the sack, take some time to view the sky with your mate and soak in the beauty.

Four: Snap Plenty of Pictures
This one is usually for the women in the relationship, but a lot of men also appreciate photos. Take plenty of pictures of you and your spouse, the area and chronicle the honeymoon. The thought of being able to look back on the occasion is a great way to keep things fun.

Five: Make Sure Two can play the Game
Any activity undertaken on your honeymoon should be something you both enjoy. If you know your spouse is afraid of heights, then don't coax him/her into gliding down a zip line or taking a parachute ride on the back of a boat. Do things you will both enjoy and keep the "me" out of it.

Six: Make Full use of the Indoors
This one should go without saying, but you want to plan enough time on your honeymoon to spend ample time in bed. You could plan an extra day so you can spend an entire day in the room.

Seven: Put Emphasis on Pillow Talk
Don't use your moments alone to tweak your dirty-talking skills. Instead, use this occasion to get to know more about your spouse in every way possible. There's no better time to open up.

Eight: Avoid the Plague like... the Plague!
A lot of people end up catching colds, viruses or having their allergies flare up on their honeymoon. This can be a disaster. The sick party will never be in the mood, and the uninflected will certainly be out of the loop. Get caught up on your vaccinations and take some basic meds with you.

Nine: Mingle with the Locals
This is great especially if you go someplace exotic. You'll want to mix it up with the locals and blend in with the culture when you're out and about. As a couple, you can find all sorts of things to get into when you immerse yourself in the culture.

Ten: Don't Forget to Relax
Relaxation is going to be an oasis in the desert on your honeymoon. Don't run yourself ragged; instead, make sure you take some time to relax and just enjoy the atmosphere.
