What exactly is a friend with benefits?

A group of us from work have starting hanging with each other Friday nights after work. One of the guys pulled me aside and said he was interested in hooking up one on one. He wasn't looking for anything serious, but wanted to be a friend with benefits. What exactly is a friend with benefits?

Some would say it's someone who will sleep with you and not get freaked out if he doesn't call, send flowers, or treat you as if you were significant other. If you can handle that and share the same attraction, two consenting adults can make that work for them. If, however, your thinking is like some others' then a friend with benefits is called a girlfriend and if you're not comfortable with casual sex then don't let yourself be persuaded.
Give him credit for telling you up front that he was attracted to you, but didn't want a relationship. You owe him the same kind of honesty, if you don't want that kind of thing, turn down the offer and continue being just friends.
