What kinds of activities can I do for a date that won't cost a lot

I'm interested in dating, but I don't have much money. What kinds of activities can I do for a date that won't call for emptying out an already thin wallet?

Both men and women have this problem and in a world where going dutch is often expected, both genders need low cost, high quality ideas for dating.
While saving your money for a really nice date every once in a while, consider exploring museums and galleries on days when admission is free. Matinees of movies or shows are almost always less than evening performances. Community theatres offer good quality entertainment for less money. Invite one or two other couples over for a night of board games, or renting movies; order one chick flick and one for the guys and make fun of each other's choices. Order one dinner from a restaurant that serves big portions and bring it home. Divide it for the two of you and fill with salad and another veggie and top it with ice cream for dessert.
If you know the person you're with is not loaded, it would be nice if you suggested something economical as a way to take the pressure off, relieve the expectations, and show how sensitive you are to the realistic state of finances. Little money doesn't mean little fun. With some creativity and a good newspaper or city guide, you can find plenty to do that won't leave your wallet lonely for company.
