What's the difference between dating online, speed dating, and those programs where singles mingle?
I know how to meet men but I am finding the men in my circle are unavailable for many reasons and I don't see any new available men joining up. I am afraid I will be the only one left and be a circle of one. I've always been able to meet people around me, but I think I need some new options. What's the difference between dating online, speed dating, and those programs where singles mingle?
Before you delve into any of these, you need to know what it is you're looking for. You need to decide if you are looking for friendship, companionship, or a relationship that has levels. Once you know that, you can begin to look at your options.
Dating sites vary. There are some that specialize in looking for someone you will eventually marry and those for people who just want to hook up but they basically all start the same way. You go on line, create a profile, post a picture or not, and look over other profiles and contact those who interest you and be contacted by those you interest.
Dating services will have you do a video and have you look at videos of other clients and then make arrangements for you to meet. At the end of the evening, you will both be asked (privately) whether you want to meet again. If you both say yes, then you will be hooked up again. If one of you says 'no' then you're done with that person.
Speed dating is done in one room where either the men or the women revolve from station to station for a short period of time ( a couple of minutes) you are rated, or you get to rate the other person and you and they decide who they would like to get to know better. If you end up on someone's list, you're made aware of it and you can decide if you want to pursue another conversation or something a little deeper.
Mingling parties are a bunch of singles at one place and they have the chance to meet as many people as they can without the structure of speed dating. You are left on your own to start the conversations, get contact information, and make further arrangements. The thing you have in common is that you're all there to meet new people.
