Should Being Jewish Affect My Dating?

It's true that religion and faith can affect every aspect of your life and dating is not an exception. Many spiritual people find that their faith guides them in the way of where to socialize, who to socialize with, and perhaps even who to date. If you don't necessarily feel guided by faith but instead by social interests and attraction, you may find yourself wondering if your Jewish faith should affect your dating life. The answer is different for every person and each person must determine how much faith needs to be a part of their dating life.
Many Jewish people find it easier in the long run to have their faith involved in dating because it will help guide them to people that share their faith. For some people this isn't important, but a lot of people prefer to date people that have the same spiritual beliefs as them as it may reduce future conflict and may also make interactions with family members a lot more comfortable, too. If you are very religious and you attend religious functions and they are a part of your life then you may want to think about how your faith needs to affect your dating life. This is because not just anyone will want to go to synagogue every day or even a couple times a week.
Being Jewish may affect your dating and in a good way. If you are very involved with religious social groups you may find that you can meet a lot of other singles. In fact, larger congregations have singles groups that meet weekly or bi-monthly and in this case being Jewish and dating go together quite well! Not only will dating those that are also involved in Jewish organizations bring you together you can be sure that you share the same religious beliefs as one another.
Being Jewish doesn't have to affect your dating; it is all up to you, who you are and how involved you want your religion to be in your life and the life of those that you date. It's a good idea to think about how involved you are with your religion and how involved you want to be with those that you date and how in an ideal world those two things would mesh. When you consider these things you will know if your being Jewish should have anything to do with your dating life.
