Love Me, Love my Pet

While perusing Match.com one day, I noted that they had a fairly attractive looking guy, user name Levringe, featured on the very first page. His profile "portrait", as Match likes to call them, exhibited the turtle necked gent sitting across from an adorable long haired puss, with a personal quote above them that read "Cats. It's them or me."

As smoldering as those good looks might have been, I know far too many people who would say, "Well, hit the road Jack."

I must say, that even though I do not own a pet, I was somewhat offended on behalf of pet parents everywhere. What men like Levinge won't even consider, is that to many animal lovers, asking them to give up their pet, would be akin to asking them to give up a kid-or worse-a kidney.

Dude - if cats bother you that bad, don't date a girl who has one, better yet, don't date any woman who has something she cherishes that you may despise, only to make her sacrifice it on the funeral pyre of your relationship-this is called getting started on the wrong foot!

Many of my girlfriends are big animal nuts, although the only person I know with a cat is actually a guy. In my humble opinion, they are all a tad bit fanatical, but that is who they are -take it or leave it.

There are several oases in the internet desert for animals and the people who love them, and one such stop is E pets, is the place to meet online to find them. Set up like something of a social networking, you can create a profile, personal blog, post pics, chat, and even search classifieds.

There are also dating sites that are pet parents specific, where singles can meet up, talk about their animals, and hopefully make a love connection.

Animal People had a cutest, most inviting website. Partnered with Match.com, they offer a three-day trial as well as a quick search option, so you can browse the site to see what a membership entails.

The about section was adorable and gave me a well needed chuckle, as it showcased animals as CEO's of the Animal People website, well, I suppose in a way they are.

If you are a pet lover, there is much that you can crow (or meow or bark) about in the realm of cyberspace when it comes to finding people and sites that cater to you and your pet's needs, so much so, that you will never have to settle the Levringe's of the world, who would have you make choices your heart would never be able to recover from.

The internet is fast becoming a vast social tool, and animal lovers like you are now able to find others who appreciate and accept your love for all that is cute, cuddly and furry-and that's' the way it should be!
