He whispered that he was going to propose on Valentine's Day

I live with my boyfriend, one night while I was drifting off to sleep, he whispered that he was going to propose on Valentine's Day. I mumbled something to the effect that everybody does that. I really want to marry him and would love to get the ring on Valentine's Day, but now I'm afraid it won't happen because I know he heard me and was put off. What do I do?

Ah, the things we say when we're drunk or sleepy. You have two options: you can wait to see if he knows you didn't mean it and proposes to you anyway, or you can fess up and tell him you didn't mean it and would actually like the proposal to come on Valentine's Day. Either way, if the day comes and it looks like the proposal isn't, you can make plans to propose to him.
