Creative Ways to Say "I Love You" By Lorraine Harper
While you can always verbally express your feelings for your lover, there are more special ways to express an equally special feeling. It's an old clichi, but it's true - actions do speak louder than words. If you demonstrate your love and appreciation for your lover through your actions, it will definitely be more memorable than by simply repeating those three simple words.
Make something for your loved one. Whether it's food, a work of art, or a simple love letter, anything that is made with your own hands or ideas shows that you'd go out of your way for your loved one. Even a video of greetings from all his/her friends on his/her birthday shows that you're willing to make the effort to let them feel special.
Use the basics, but give them a twist. Flowers and chocolates may seem dated, but there are different ways in which you can give them without seeming unoriginal. It's a good idea to pick the flowers and arrange them yourself. It gives the flowers a personal touch and shows that you have imagination. As for chocolates, you can leave a trail chocolate pieces on the floor, leading up to the bedroom or the dinig room (where you've prepared a romantic dinner).
Listen and use what you hear. Most people aren't always direct about what they want and what they need. You have to listen in for clues. "I'm tired today" could mean "Take care of me and pamper me", and "I miss you" could mean "Let's do something special together". Listen in on what your partner is saying about their state of mind, feelings, interests, and desires. These clues usually don't come literally, so you have to read between the lines.
Touching is good - even scientists say so. When you're being touched, special chemicals are being released in your body. These chemicals heighten your feeling of pleasure and comfort. Don't' be afraid to touch your partner, and don't restrict your touching to only the sexual areas of his/her body. Holding hands, playing with their hair, and stroking their arms is a good way to reassure them that you care. You could even learn massage, if you want to give your partner more pleasure.
If you're having a hard time expressing yourself, feel free to use other people's words. Making a mix tape or mix CD of songs that declare your feelings is a good idea, especially since your lover can take it with him/her when going out of town, and he/she can play it when you're being missed. If your partner is the literary type, you can compile romantic poems and have them hardbound. You can even write love quotes on small pieces of paper and roll them up into a bottle, so that your lover can just randomly pick one every time he/she is thinking of you.
