Love and Sex By Brian McDonald
"Sex alleviates tension. Love causes it." - Woody Allen
A lot of people say that they can definitely separate true love and sexual feelings. However, should they always be kept separate? Sex is about being intimate with someone, so it only make sense that you do it with someone you truly love and trust. Although you can have sex without these types of feelings, it's usually better and emotionally safer with someone you love who also loves you back. Still, distinguishing between love and lust can be really hard. It's important to know the difference between the two, especially since you're putting yourself at risk. Here is a list of the symptoms of love:
You listen to every word the other person says, and you try to remember it. If you're only interested in someone sexually, you usually don't listen to the "boring" things they say. In fact, you love listening to your lover, regardless of what he or she says. Whenever you're apart, you truly miss your conversations.
Although you've seen your lover with unruly hair and in house clothes, you still find them attractive. It's strange, but true - we're still physically attracted to the people we love, no matter what they look like. In fact, some people might even judge you and poke fun at you if you pick out someone who they think is a "geek" or an "ugly duckling". But you don't care. In fact, you stick up for your lover when someone calls them names.
You may not be completely serious about it, but you think about your future together. Even if you're just idly fantasizing or making serious plans, your lover is always included in visions of your future. Whether it's a vacation in Hawaii or a marriage, you're still planning ahead.
You're so proud to know your lover that you introduce him or her ot your friends and family. You normally don't do this type of thing with one-night stands or "friends with benefits". It may even reach the point where you bring your lover to family affairs.
Whenever someone asks you to describe your lover, you don't give that much importance to her physical qualities. Your lust may be activated by a great body, but your heart pumps faster when you remember how thoughtful and sweet your lover is. If these are the types of qualities that you think of most fondly, then you are truly in love.
You make the effort to be romantic with the person you love. You learn new tricks to satisfy your lover sexually, you learn about massage, you make a homecooked meal - all without asking for much in return. This is probably the tell-tale sign of being truly in love rather than just being caught up in lust.
There's nothing wrong with feeling lust exclusively, just make sure that your brain can tell the difference, and that your lover is aware of your true feelings. But if you do find someone that you truly love and have lustful feelings for as well, make sure to hold on to that person!
