The majority of them also offer pages dedicated to giving you tons of advice and tips about personal safety. They warn you not to give out your information, such as your phone numbers, address or the location of your job. In the end your safety is up to how much common sense you use. Myth # 2: Online dating is something only geeks do. Actually, the truth is that online dating is full of career oriented individuals that make above average incomes. This would imply that although the majority of would-be daters are college educated they are mostly just too busy to have much of a social life. Myth # 3: You have to practically be a computer genius to go through the rigors of an online date site. While it is true a lot of the online dating sites do have you answer a lot of questions, this is to help you find a suitable match. You usually only have to click a mouse to pick your answers. Anyone can do this and learn easily to send an email which is all very basic computer skills. Myth # 4: Online dating is for desperate people or losers. Well, if you consider the well-educated or people that make above average incomes desperate losers then you could be right but it isn’t very likely. Most of the people that are online dating are hardworking and very sincere about finding someone compatible to have a serious relationship with. Myth # 5: Online dating takes too long. Anyone can spend too much time online dating or any other activity they decide to do. Since online dating is something that anyone can do anytime it can be done in spare moments or whenever it is convenient for you. Myth # 6: People on the dating sites are lying or trying to scam others. Some people might be there for this reason and you have to trust your instincts to differentiate between those that might be sincere or the liars. Chances are if someone you find online is a liar or scammer then that same person would do this if you met them in person. Online dating myths are as plentiful as the facts, so check it out and try it for yourself to bust the myths.
