Free Or Paid Dating Sites? By Donna Talarico
There are a lot of benefits to online dating these days. Some of the facts about online dating includes that there are over 20 million users that check their online dating profile each day. It's also true that one third of the successful dating population found their date partner through online dating.
So, now that you are aware online dating is going to stick around for awhile and there isn't the social stigma attached, as was the case several years ago, where do you start?
Do you choose a free online dating site or one of the paid membership sites? There are pros and cons to each dating site or type of dating site.
The free dating sites are sometimes more casual, even sloppy, in comparison to the paid sites. It is also due to some financial issues that the free sites won't have as much technical support as the bigger name sites. They do tend to have more pop-ups than the other sites because most of their revenue comes from these advertisements instead of charging members. The advantages would of course be that you have an unlimited amount of profiles to search. You have to do this manually of course but this is often a plus if you are new to online dating.
Since these sites are free it does give anyone the option to join so you do have to be aware of plenty of scammers, bored teenagers or those just out to make fun of online dating.
Free sites do give you the chance to learn a lot about checking out profiles and you could meet some other really great people if you are patient.
Paid membership sites, on the other hand, tend to be more organized and much neater in their layouts. They aren't usually hard to navigate, even for the novice dater. These sites have subscription fees so they haven't got as many financial issues to deal with as the free sites so you usually won't be hindered with hundreds of pop-ups.
These sites can be more preference specific. The people on paid sites are usually more serious about online dating, or at least serious enough to use their credit card.
Paid sites are usually more careful to screen the profiles which will keep you from getting harassed or taken in as easily.
There are the good and the bad with the free and paid online date sites. You have to decide for yourself which is right for you.
