Will there be an expectation of sex on the first date?
I don't have a problem with online dating; in fact, I am able to 'let go' more online than I sometimes can in person because I have the safety of my home surrounding me without actually having anyone in my home. I have been speaking with this one guy on line and we've even talked sexually with each other and I could express some inner feelings without trepidation.
The problem is we're ready to meet and I want to know if we've been intimate online, does that mean there's an expectation of sex on the first date?

Are you asking because you don't want to have sex or because you do? For some men, breathing is an expectation of sex, but anyone who has been around online dating for a while should understand how the anonymity of the situation may make folks a little more open than they would normally be. So while there will be that question in the back of his mind (and your's, too) there should be some understanding if it doesn't happen.
When you get face to face with him, I don't think there's anything wrong with saying you aren't ready to do what you've written about but it's good to know that if that time should come, you've met someone who has some of the same views as you.
