I don't want to have sex until I get married...

I know people think a girl keeping her virginity is somehow noble, even when they call her a prude. What about a guy? I don't want to have sex until I get married, but when I hear friends, both guys and girls talk about it, a boy is expected to have sex before marriage. But I don't want to.

Terrence

Dear Terrence

Then don't. It's nobody's business whether you do or don't and unless there's something that says you have to talk about your sex life, no one has to know about your preference at all.

That isn't to say it's anything to be ashamed of - it isn't. If it comes up, then stand by what you believe. You can tell the truth about why you think it's important to wait and no one has to give you approval for your beliefs in order for them to be valid.

There will be some who snicker and laugh; some may even make some crude comments and the word may get out, but don't worry for everyone who says something, there are two people who admire your stand - and don't be surprised if some of them are the same people.
