Can friends fall in love? Of course they can, and it's more common than you think. It can't be helped that strong feelings develop between men and women who started out with a platonic relationship. While a lot of people fear that they'll be losing their friends, love between two people with a strong history together can be a great thing. Here are the reasons why:

1. You don't need to go through an awkward "getting to know you" phase. This is probably the hardest stage in a new relationship. You're still trying to feel each other out, trying to understand each other's signals, etc. However, when you're already good friends, love conversations are much simpler. There's no need to sit around for hours trying to figure out what he or she meant by "I had a great time" or "I really like being with you".

2. You already know what he or she likes. When it comes to gift giving and thinking of fun activities to do on your dates, you already have an idea about which things are appropriate for your lover. After all, you were able to give each other gifts when you were friends. Love, when added into the equation, doesn't change what your friend's preferences are.


3. It's easier to communicate. Whenever you feel like talking to your friend/lover about something, it's much easier than talking to someone that you just met. You would be more comfortable when it comes to discussing your insecurities and problems, because you already trust the person you're talking to. From the start, friends love each other, and it's a much smaller step for them to be in love.

4. You genuinely care about each other. This may be specific only to people who have been friends for a really long time. Over time, you go through a lot of things together, and your friendship becomes stronger. Real love often comes with this strong bond you've developed, and if you work things out, it could last you for a lifetime.
