Search Term - love songs
Ever since cavemen learned how to beat two sticks together, loves songs have been used as a form of courtship - and they've been effective too. It just goes to show you that the art of making a good love song is not limited to the skills and talents of Grammy winners. You too can do it, if you follow these tips:
Sincerity and honesty should be the soul of your love song. Nothing's more irritating than those love songs that are obviously full of exaggerations and empty words. True love is honest, and your song should reflect that. Use words that you would normally use in conversation, and don't force things to rhyme. If you saw the ending of the film "Before Sunset", Julie Delpy sings a love song in the end, and it's really honest and beautiful and it doesn't even rhyme. Even if you're not looking at the screen, you can tell that her words are honest and truthful - and she's a fictional character! If a fictional character can sing a truthful and honest love song, then you definitely can.
Make your love song unique to your lover and your relationship. Your love song can include moments that are special to the two of you. You can write a song about that time you two fell off from a boat ride --the more simple the moments you choose, the more romantic your love song will be.
Write your love song in a genre that you're comfortable with. If you're into hip-hop music, don't write a classical ballad - your love songs will sound awkward. Instead, stick to the genre that you're most familiar with. Besides, you probably already know the basics of the genre's requirements, so you don't need to do all the work of listening to new material.
