Four Steps to Happiness By Tim Blackstock
Everyone has had low points in their lives. Sometimes, these low points are short-lived, and other times, it feels as if you'll never know the true meaning of happiness. Don't worry - happiness can be for everyone. It is not something that is given only to the select few. It is there for everyone who wishes to discover it. Here are the steps that will help you uncover your own personal happiness:
First, know what happiness is and prioritize it. Before you embark on a journey to find happiness, you first have to know what it is. Basically, it is a feeling of contentment and satisfaction in your life. It doesn't necessarily mean that things will be perfect, or that you will be content and satisfied with your possessions. It just means that you'll be satisfied with your life and how you live it. You also have to remember that it's not easy to find and maintain happiness - it is something that requires your serious attention and effort. From now on, everything you do should be motivated by your desire to be happy.
Then, you need to know yourself. You have to find out who you are, who you want to be, and be that person. You need to discover your own strengths and to use these strengths to the best of your ability. By doing so, you will see how unique you are, and you can also learn more about what things can make you truly happy.
Improve your self-esteem. You also need to be aware of the fact that you deserve happiness and love. Everyone does. You may have weaknesses and limitations, but you need to live with them. Give yourself the respect that is due. Also, you have to learn to like yourself for who you are. You are very unique and your life, opinion, and thoughts carry just as much weight as the thoughts of others.
Recognize other people. After working on yourself, you need to acknowledge the existence and needs of other people. This doesn't just mean that you have to give time and money to less fortunate strangers - it also means making an effort to actively pay attention to the feelings and needs of your friends, family, and other loved ones. After all, these people surround you throughout your life. You need to make them feel like they matter to you, because these relationships help keep us grounded and help us realize that we are not alone.
