Beating Your Shyness By Ron Steiner
Whether you believe your shyness is a product of your environment or your genetics, you can attempt to beat your shyness. Shyness is different for everyone, with some people simply feeling shy from time to time and others feeling shy practically all the time. The great thing is that almost all shyness can be beat or modified, as long as you have realistic goals. Learning to step out of your shyness can enable you to lead a more fulfilling life as you begin to experience new things. Interaction with others doesnt have to be as difficult as it is now, it can get better.
Beating shyness is about understanding why you are shy and embracing your personality. You simply may be more introverted than the next person, and thats just fine. Shyness becomes a problem when it stops you from doing the things you want or need to do in life. Shyness in and of itself is not a bad thing, but it shouldnt stop you from living your life the way you want to. If you are tired of being held down by your shyness there are some steps you can take to beat your shyness once and for all.
First, you might want to try counseling. A qualified counselor can help you determine why you might be shy in certain situations and even help you conquer the shy feelings that overcome you in that specific situation. If you have always been shy a counselor may be able to teach you some techniques that will allow you to interact normally with other people, and eventually overcome the shyness.
Joining online support groups for shyness may be a big help for you, as well. If you are shy you may find the stories and support of others very encouraging because you dont feel so alone. You may be able to use the techniques that others have found to help them beat shyness to beat your own! Being able to talk about being shy to people that really understand you and what you are going through can be life changing, so much so that you can overcome the shyness once and for all.
Learning how to be assertive often will just take a bit of practice. You might just find that when you speak out, people want to and even like to listen to you. When you are able to overcome the shyness a bit you will also find that people like you more and want to be around you because you add something to their life, something good! Often times shy people will continue to be shy because they feel as though they are not liked or valued. This is not at all the case; the fact is that most shy people never give people a chance to know who they are and what they are all about. Beating your shyness will not only make you feel better, it will help other people feel better being around you.
