Go Slow When Dealing With Shyness By Brian McDonald
Dealing with shyness can be very difficult no matter what your age. Shyness often starts during childhood when children just do not feel comfortable in social situations. Many times, dealing with shyness by pushing the child into social situations just makes it worse. When shyness is not dealt with gently and kindly, it only gets worse as the person gets older.
When dealing with shyness, the best thing you can do is confront the issues head on. In children, its usually just a matter of working them up to a point where theyll be able to interact more comfortably with other people. Start out small by going to the park when other children are there, then invite one of the children home to play, and then move onto school. If you move slowly, at the childs level, youll likely pull them out of their shell when they are ready. A shy child may never be a public speaker by profession, but if you help him or her deal with her social issues, itll be less likely to affect self-esteem and help them in the long term especially with dating.
With adults shyness is often extreme social anxiety. There are a lot of different forms of therapy for dealing with shyness, and medications that can help, too. Adults have to start out small with social gatherings, and then as they get comfortable turn it up a notch. Going at your own pace will allow you to gear up for interaction with others, and when you are ready youll realize that you can actually have fun. In order to be successful in dating you dont have to talk a mile a minute and always know the perfect thing to say, but you do need to be able to approach women and converse with them. As a result, you need to handle your shyness and build your confidence so you will be successful at dating and in life.
Dealing with shyness is no joke. If shyness is not dealt with appropriately it can make the situation worse for life and really put a kink in your dating life. So, go slow, and in relatively little time the shy person in your life could be a social butterfly.
