Shed Your Shy Skin By Tim Blackstock
Guys are like dogs in airports who, instead of smelling drugs or bombs, can catch the scent of shyness. Shyness is cute if you're three years old, but you should have noticed your aunts and uncles had grown tired of trying to get you to pose for pictures after six years of hiding behind overstuffed pillows and the curtains.
Maybe some guys like it - I know some girls who like shy boys after all. But generally, when you see a girl by herself in a corner at a party, you can read UNAPPROACHABLE spelled in red ink on her forehead. And because we all are proud animals who are terrified of rejection, when the sign says unapproachable on a female, nobody approaches the female.
That, or some bad-ass guy would think you're drunk and you don't have friends. In that case, unapproachable equates to easy prey.
The era of shyness has long passed away. We don't have peacock-lined handheld fans anymore to cover your mouth during a conversation. Nobody cares that it's the polite way of talking then. When people mingle in parties, they are attracted to girls with easy, radiant smiles. Staring at a speck of dust in the corner will not get you any social life. If you want to stare at dust building up, stay in your room; it's warmer there, especially if you don't clean up for a month.
But if you want some serious action in your social calendar, shed that shy skin of yours, and get yourself a new top. Wear it to a party, smile, and don't worry that you're not pretty or popular enough. Nobody is. Besides, because there is such a thing as diversity, guys don't have the same tastes. Not all of them go for Barbie doll who is captain of the cheerleading team. Some guys do scour the room for interesting girls who are easy to come up to and who look like they can have fun.
If the night nears its end without anyone noticing your radiance, go ahead and start talking to that guy to whom you've been displaying your best angle. Guys like it when girls do the first move sometimes. Maybe he's just too shy.
