Talk about your role reversal. I have a girlfriend who is really into porn. She has a few movies and every once in a while she will buy a movie on pay for view. Now, I like porn as much as the next guy, but I think her watching is a little excessive. How can I ask her to cut down on the porn?
Do you guys live together? You have more of a right to ask her to slow down if it is a shared expense or shared space. If she lives in her own place and uses her own money, she gets to spend the time and funds anyway she wants. However, since it bothers you so much, you will have to sit her down and ask that she not indulge when you are together. Tell her it bothers you that she would rather spend time with the film instead of with you and if she would resist while you were there, you’d appreciate it. She should have enough respect for your feelings to give in – I mean, you can only watch so much of anything. If it’s to the point where she can’t go without it, you might have to consider if she has an addiction and that would be an entirely different conversation with a different action plan.
