Sex, why long term relationships are better than one night stands

Many people argue that sex is better as part of a long term relationship, certainly over a period of time, you can get to know your partner better and understand their likes and dislikes and more importantly how to satisfy them. So is it always the case that sex as part of a long term relationship is better than one night stands?

In general, it is difficult to compare the two. The reason for this is that in general, a one night stand is not always about the sex. If theyre honest, many promiscuous people are more attracted to the hunt, or the feeling of being wanted than they are to the sex. The sex is merely a by-product; it is a result of someone fulfilling their emotional void. Once the sex has happened, they will immediately look for someone else to find their buzz from.

It can be a difficult circle to break away from, possibly one that will require a lot of honesty and inward thinking. You will need to look for the answers to questions such as, why can I not maintain a stable relationship? And what it really is that you get out of one night stands, which emotional need does it feed?

Aside from that, there is also the very real danger of picking up a sexually transmitted disease. So it is worth considering the physical risks as well as the emotional risks. Another problem with one night stands is that sexually, they are often a let down. Disregard the Hollywood blockbusters, its not always passion and fulfilment, more often it is embarrassment and awkwardness.

This article argues that sex in a long term relationship is much more satisfying than casual sex and brief encounters. Its true that it is not always possible to reach the dizzy and exciting heights that can be experienced when making love to someone for the first time. Its also true that over time, sex in a long term relationship can become stale and boring, although these types of situations can be reversed if both partners are prepared to work at it.

In fact, it can be a lot of fun. For two loving partners who trust each other, spicing up their love life can breed new life into a relationship. The point is, a relationship provides the comfort and attraction required, and it is a platform for a sexual satisfaction. The friendship and closeness forged via a long term relationship can mean so much more on many different levels, certainly more so than regular one night stands.
