Dealing with the Dreaded Goof

A lot of dating advice articles you’ll read pertaining to online dating mostly cover profile creation, how to meet the 'right' person, what type of photo you should use, and how to avoid deadbeats, among other topics. And not that there's anything wrong with those articles, but what about first date advice for online couples meeting for the first time-where are those articles?

Dating someone new can be tricky, especially when you've met them online. Since you've never seen them in person before, things can get nerve-racking in a second! It's not at all uncommon for some daters to make the proverbial 'goof.'
In this dating advice article, we'll cover some common goofs and gaffes and remedies you can put in play to fix them.

The Wrong Name!
A lot of us read dating advice articles by the ton and decide to try and date multiple people. So calling someone by the wrong name isn't a crime against humanity. It actually happens a lot more often than you may think! If this happens to you on a date, just laugh it off and say so-and-sos name was on your mind because he's your neighbor or a friend of a friend.

The Spiller
If you goof and happen to spill something on your date (perhaps literally), then you can use this as an opportunity to show your humorous side or even to ask for another date to 'make it up' to them! This is a goof that is easily reversible.

The Miscommunication
If you happened to avoid goofs, then odds are good that your date may end in a kiss. But sometimes you'll lean in for a kiss, and your date decides to offer up a hug or even worse a handshake! (WTF?) If this happens, don't fight it. And never, ever apologize for attempting to kiss your date. Just smile, tell them you had a great time, and call it a night. Forcing the issue can turn that small goof into a relationship-killing blunder.
