I am over forty years old and Ive never been married

I am over forty years old and Ive never been married. it wouldnt surprise me if people think Im gay, though Im not. I do date women and I do have sex, and I am interested in having a lasting relationship and if I could find a woman who was interested in more than my bank account (too small) and in more than what I do for a living (I dont have an abbreviation after my name) I would probably have the children I want to have. Its very frustrating, you know?

Dear Grant
Yes,I can tell it's not easy being you. The definition of a fool: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Listen, your frustration would go down a few levels if you got the chip off your shoulder. If you're dating women who are interested in your bank account and what you do for a living, you need to remember the only other thing they all have in common is you.
It appears you're trying to get a high maintenance woman and change her into what you want and it's not working for you.
Considering there are many men out there who don't make loads of money or have college degrees who are happily married with and without children, it's likely there are women out there who will date and marry them.
You're not ready for a serious relationship, no matter how much you protest otherwise, because love has a tendency to show up where it's wanted, even when we don't admit it.
Change your game plan and you'll change your results.

I don't want to hurt her or anything I don't want this awkwardness between us and I don't want him to think of me as loose I don't want to play dumb in order to get a man but I don't know what else to do. I just don't get it. I'm in my thirties and I've never had a serious relationship. I'm dumb when it comes to picking up signals because I've been wrong MANY TIMES I really like her. Should I wait for her?
