Speed Dating in a Jedi Suit

Do you have what it takes to land a speed date – even in a Jedi suit? Okay, so maybe the Star Wars speed dating circuit isn't coming to a town near you, but look at it more like a metaphor for successful dating. If you could pull off speed dating in a Jedi suit, then what couldn't you do!?

The Star Wars crew has been made light of for years. Nerd, geek, loser, homo – all words associated with guys who like to spend their days dressed like Qui-Gon Jinn. Ah, it's just the ways of the world. What can you do about that stuff?

I'll tell you what! You can have the last laugh and pull off a successful date, even in full Jedi attire. Let's run over a quick list of tips you can use to grab a date in a galaxy far, far away.

First and foremost, make sure the girl is also a Star Wars mega-fan. The Wars series doesn't match up well with the Trekkies, for example, so seek out girls more like Nomi Sunrider than Uhura.

Secondly, don't drop the Yoda on them! It's not fashionable after all these decades, and it's certainly not humorous. Oh, but big fan of Yoda you are? It doesn't matter. Save it for the one year anniversary. This played-out dialect will make you like every other Youngling wannabe in his father's bathrobe.

Next up, don't be crude. You already have common interests, obviously, so there goes one barrier. Don't ruin things by making offhand comments about the size of your lightsaber. Besides, she'll know it's a lie, anyway. Don't embarrass yourself.

Now, be a true Knight. Don't front like you're a Master, and don't show that you're a clumsy, know-nothing Padawan. Own yourself and be confident in your skills like a good Jedi Knight should.

Lastly, just because you're dressed up like a Jedi doesn't mean you need to reenact every Star Wars scene you can think of. Trust me, she's already a fan. The magic of the movie hasn't escaped her. I.e. be yourself even though you are trying to be a Jedi.

If the force is strong enough in you, you should have no trouble wooing that special little Star Wars vixen out there. Then you can explore the dark side together.
