It can be harrowing to be 35 and single, and while a lot of people may regard the situation as a blatant proclamation of their independence; there are those of us who want to desperately change the status quo. Nobody likes surprises particularly those that will shock the living daylights out of them. Ask your friends: The proliferation of the internet has changed the way we lead our very lives; what was unthinkable till about yesterday such as shipping through computer screen is today a reality. So, chances are that many of your friends etc may already be on some dating sites; ask them for references. Everything that shines is not necessarily gold: Well, this logic holds true in real life and there is no reason why things need to be different in the cyber world; so do not believe everything that you see and read about a person. Always probe for more informational and verify every piece of detail that you have before even remotely considering the possibility of meeting somebody offline. Make your profile interesting: Your profile is the only way for fellow chatters to find out about you, so make sure that it is interesting. Try not to include a picture; you could give people the url to your Facebook page instead. The same goes for your contact information. Try to loosen up and have fun: If you are high strung about finding someone online, just relax, and enjoy the ride. Meeting people through free dating sites can not only be a lot of fun but often you tend to form a mental connection with the people you chat with which is a lot more than what can be said for a restaurant date.
