Review of ”Being Single & Satisfied” By Anthony T. Evans
There are all types of support for married couples and their issues and challenges, but most people tend to forget that being single comes with a number of difficulties and hurdles that aren't as widely recognized. The author focuses mainly on how difficult it is to be a Christian single in today's world. Being Single and Satisfied is a forward and unapologetic look at the life of a single today in a very married world. The content is all Christian based, so any interest in this book should be considered carefully before reading it.
Because this book is Christian based, it addresses the church and how most in the church have a preconceived notion that anyone who is single should be on the search for a lifetime partner to marry. Some churches even look down upon singles as lesser members of the community. The author effectively and thoroughly addresses this outlook and does a great job in not only pointing out how impossible it is for every single to find a mate, but also that it is very possible to be a Christian and a single without repercussions.
The book is a very short read (55 pages) and can work for anyone who is interested in the complex nature of being single in a Christian community. Even if you eventually hope to find a partner to marry this book is an excellent read to get you through the time it takes to get to that point.
