My friend says I should give him a chance, but I don't know.

A friend introduced me to a guy she said was everything I was looking for and she's almost right. He has the right personality and beliefs, but he doesn't dress particularly well and he's a little older and it's clear he doesn't visit the gym very often.

I like being around him,and wouldn't mind hanging around him but I don't know if he's "it" material. My friend says I should give him a chance, but I don't know.

Dear Pattie

Let's imagine I have another letter in my mailbox from a guy who says: a friend of mine introduced me to this woman who he said is everything I wanted and he was almost right. She's pretty enough, but she turned her nose up at everything that she wasn't looking down her nose at. My friend says she isn't really shallow, and I should get to know her. But I think she told me everything in the first five minutes of meeting her. Should I try again?

I would tell him know. Because she did tell you everything in five minutes: She's shallow, she judgemental, and she's not above using someone for her own entertainment.

I would tell you not to give him another chance either because he deserves better.

There's nothing wrong with wanting someone beautiful, but to dismiss someone just because they're not but to want to hold on to him for the kicks is just low.
