Holidays Tips for Singles to Enjoy the Holidays By Laura Rupert
The holidays can be a major challenge if you are single and don't want to be. They can be even more so if you were recently in a relationship and are now alone. But, there are some tips that can help you get through the holidays even though you are single.
Tip #1 Meet up with Friends
A great way to enjoy the holidays is to meet up with all of your old friends, especially the currently single ones. All of those friends that were placed on the back burner while you were in a relationship may be a bit resentful, but they will more than likely understand and get over it. Not to mention they will love to see you and hang out. So, call up all of your old friends and go out to the bars, have a party, or just get wild. You will feel a new sense of enjoyment and realize that being single isn't that bad after all. Plus, you just might meet someone new!
Tip #2 Enjoy Family
The holidays are all about family and when you are single you can really place your attention on those who are most important. Go ahead and take your grandmother Christmas shopping or spend hours baking with your mom. You will have a lot of fun, learn some things you maybe didn't know, and grow in the process. Spending time with your family during the holidays can be very cathartic and just the thing you need if you have been feeling lonely and single.
Tip #3 Volunteer
There are a lot of shelters, food banks, and the like during the holidays that need volunteers. So, if you are alone and don't want to be and would like to lend a helping hand then volunteering during the holidays is a wonderful way to give back to the community.
Tip #4 Don't Phone Your Ex
If your ex broke up with you then while you are single over the holidays you will really want to avoid picking up the phone and calling. However, if you broke up with your sweetie and are interested in getting back together then a phone call is acceptable. But, just try and enjoy being single during the holidays if possible. You might realize that it is more than it's chalked up to be.
Remember, the holidays are a special time of year and while it is nice to have a special someone to share things with it's not required. There are still a lot of great things you can do over the holidays and a lot of fun is to be had even if you are single. So, take advantage and make your own schedule and do what you want!
